Scrub In: The Motivated Med Life to Go

Why I Started Blogging and Where I Want Scrub In: The Motivated Med Life to Go

When I first started blogging, I honestly wasn’t sure what direction it would take. To be transparent, I was looking for ways to earn extra income as a medical student and thought, why not write about medical school? But even with a few weeks of writing, part of me began to use this as a creative outlet—something outside of endless lectures, exams, and study schedules. As  I’ve continued to write, I’ve realized that this blog has the potential to become much more than that.

Scrub In: The Motivated Med Life has become a space where I can share the ups, downs, and in-betweens of medical school. Writing allows me to process my own journey, but it also allows me to connect with others who are walking similar paths: pre-meds eager to know what lies ahead, current medical students looking for solidarity, and anyone who’s curious about the reality behind the white coat.

Looking forward, I want this blog to grow into more than just my personal reflections. I’d like it to become a resource and community—one that blends storytelling with practical insights. Some posts will continue to be raw and personal (like my struggles, lessons, or small wins), while others might focus on study strategies, wellness tips, or even reflections on life outside of medicine.

I also want to experiment with how I share these stories. Maybe I’ll explore Webtoons or short videos, where I can give my experiences a more visual form. Maybe I’ll open the space to guest voices—other students, residents, or mentors who have valuable perspectives to share.

Ultimately, my hope is that Scrub In: The Motivated Med Life will grow into a platform that not only documents my own medical journey but also encourages and motivates others navigating their own. I don’t expect it to happen overnight, but like medicine itself, building something meaningful takes time, persistence, and purpose.

So that’s the vision. For now, I’ll keep writing, reflecting, and sharing. And as always, I’d love to hear from you: What topics would you find most valuable? What kinds of stories do you want to read more about?
